Paper Pumpkin Creativity!

Happy Tuesday!!!
I have been working on my newest Paper Pumpkin Kit, and I'm finally able to share my cards with you.  These were so quick and easy to do, and now, I have new cards added to my stash.  I hope you like them.  The first two that I made were copied almost exactly from the picture of the samples that came with the kit.  The kit included four envelopes for four scored cards; kraft color on one side and colored stripes on the other, doilies, stickers, stamps and a Stamping' Spot (a cute little baby ink pad). The cards also had shapes die cut in the front.

If you look thru the triangle cut outs, you can see the inside color of the card.  "LOVE" is stamped on one of the stickers.

Here's a closer look.  The "arrows" is another stamp that comes with the kit.

You can probably see that the inside of this card is a different color.

Here's a close up of this one.

Since the kit came with four card bases, I decided to exercise my own creativity, and see what I could come up with for the other two.  Here are my own samples.  Everything on the cards are either doilies or nice thick stickers that came with the kit, and I have quite a lot of stuff left to make even more cards with!

Here's my first creation.  Isn't this stripe fun?

And here's my second creation.....I like this the best!

Another Snowy Michigan Morning!!!!

I woke up this morning to the sound of a text message alert on my phone, and to yet another blizzardy (is that even a word?) day.  The message was from my sister, who had just gotten on the highway - headed to her new home in Arizona.  I was a little worried because of the weather needless to say, so I couldn't go back to sleep.  The plows and snowblowers and shovelers were out at our condos for hours.  Then, as if a switch was flipped, the SUN came out.  It was out for about 4 1/2 hours!  Whoop whoop!!  I also have heard from my sister who is now in Missouri for the night - with only patches of snow in the fields along the way (she said it is still pretty cold though).  At least she's out of the bad weather.

The card challenge I entered, gave me a jump-start on my Valentine cards.  I'm not sure how many I'll make or send out, but here are a couple that I didn't enter in the challenge.  The first card is SO easy to make, and similar to the challenge card I made.  The Washi tape was from the Holiday catty, so it is retired (sadly).  Then I just die cut the larger heart, (Hearts Collection Frame Lits #125599), embossed it (Adorning Accents Embossing Folder #125601) and punched out the smaller hearts (Small Heart Punch #117193).

The card uses Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler card stock.

I really like the second card the best, and considered putting it in the challenge, but I saw a similar card last summer by another demonstrator, and I think mine is too close to hers to count as a "new" card, and not one CASEd.  Unfortunately, I had not written down the name of that demo so I could give her credit here.  This one uses the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (#130514 - wood mount, #130517 - clear mount) - LOVE IT - and the Empressions Thin Lit die from the Holiday catalog.  I'm sad that it is now retired!

This card uses Whisper White, Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petal card stock.

Tomorrow I plan to work on the newest Paper Pumpkin kit, and I'll show you what I come up with.  If you haven't joined Paper Pumpkin yet, now is the right time to do so.  These kits allow you to create quick, easy and cute projects.  Perfect for people with very little time.

If you join Paper Pumpkin now through February 10th, you will get a Free Set of In Color Markers ($14.95 value) when you sign up for a new  Membership.

So, I will catch up with you later.  Thanks for stopping by again.

Hugs, Nancy

One Layer Valentine Card Challenge!

Happy Thursday!!!

I had planned to post my Valentines Day card yesterday, but after working a 12-hour shift at the hospital, I came home and pretty much crashed.  I'd found a blog challenge that I wanted to participate in, and wanted to share the card with you.  It is with The Paper Players -  Challenge #179 (check them out by clicking on their name above).

The requirements were to make a one layer Valentine card.  Embellishments had to be kept to a minimum - I hope I didn't go over - I find it is hard sometimes to limit the "stuff" on my cards.   I've never entered a challenge before, so linking back to the challenge and linking my card to that site is all new to me.  If I am able to figure this out - I will certainly enter more.

Sweet little Valentine card.

I do like the idea of a one layer card, when you want something simple and easy to make.  For this card, all I did was run a strip of Season of Style Designer Washi Tape (from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Occasions catty), across a folded piece of Whisper White card stock.  I scored the front of the card across the top and bottom (hard to see in the photo - sorry), stamped my sentiment, die cut a little heart, embossed it with an embossing folder, and put it on the front of the card.....voila!  Quick & easy peasy!!  If you have a ton of "Valentines," think how quickly you could whip these out.

My Favorite Product....this Week!

ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD

I have referred to this item in a couple of my posts, but I wonder how many of you actually have used it.  It is SO easy once you've done it the first time, and allows you to be as creative as you'd like.  I plan to have a class this spring showing you how to use it to make a variety of items - not just envelopes, so stay tuned for more information.  In the mean time, click on the Envelope Punch Board (#133774 - $19.95) to check out Stampin' Up's YouTube video on its basic use.

A Fast Trip

Thanks for visiting me again.  Let me update you on the Phoenix Adventure - we leave for Michigan early tomorrow morning...brrrrr.  I am very happy to say that my sister found a house - a very nice house - WITH A POOL (laugh) in one of the suburbs.  I don't remember how many houses we looked at, but we were certainly burning up the Phoenix area freeways!!  We even hit rush hour once - that was a pain - like every other big city.  Please don't think that all we did was house hunt.  We were able to get in a little shopping, and found one of our most favorite stores.

I was able to practice restraint - my sister, not so much!

Since we were in Phoenix, we also decided we had to have Mexican food which just happens to be a favorite of both of us.  After all, we are very close to the border.  Not knowing the area though, we did some googling (don't you just love the internet??), and found a restaurant that was fairly close to the hotel.  It turned out to be a small "Mom & Pop" type place - and the food was WONDERFUL!!!

We LOVE Mexican food - especially authentic, and we ate ourselves silly.  They had the best pico de gallo I've ever tasted.  There was also a Menudo Bar, which we could not bring ourselves to try, but look at what we DID have..........

I was half way thru my taco when I decided to take a picture of the food.

Here's my whole dinner (oops - the chips are missing)....

....and here is my sister's!

This is definitely one restaurant I want to return to - maybe tonight for dinner!  By the way - do you know what Menudo is?  Well, it is a traditional Mexican soup made with beef stomach (that's why I didn't try it - I wasn't sure if I could "stomach" it! LOL) It is in broth with a red chili pepper base.  Condiments on the bar included lime, chopped onion and cilantro.   Just not my style!

I am so happy for my sister.  She has wanted to move back to Arizona for a long time, having lived here about 13 years ago.  At the same time though, I am so sad.  My two sisters are my best friends, and I am going to miss her - a LOT!  She is such an incredible lady who I love and respect so much.  She has raised two beautiful daughters - on her own - as a single mom since they were very small girl.  And when our father became really ill about a year ago, she transferred from Indiana to Michigan so that she could stay with my parents, and help our other sister care for them until dad passed away in September.  She did this while continuing to work full time in another city.  She has a great love for her family, and a huge heart.  That's my baby sister!!!

My hubby and I had decided a while ago that we wanted to winter in the southwest - so guess where we will be once we retire when the north winds start blowing???  Let me leave you with just a few more photos of this area.  I'm already missing it!

Can you tell I love the mountains??

Thanks again for visiting.  I'll be back a little later with more Stampin' Up! info.

Hugs, Nancy
